This article discusses important factors to consider when evaluating and choosing a liberal arts college.Northland College is a very high quality, integrated liberal arts and sciences college with a unique environmental mission. Graduates receive practical, career-oriented skills that prepare them well for graduate study and the world of work. Our students also receive a great deal of personal attention from highly involved faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring. Northland professors are true mentors who get to know their students in ways that come from close personal interactions and hands on, real world learning approaches that extend well beyond formal classroom settings.

- Northland's innovative general education curriculum, called Natural Connections, redefines environmental liberal arts education. Academic programs include Education, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Business, Outdoor Education, and more.
- On the shores of the greatest of the Great Lakes and surrounded by nearly a million acres of national forest, Northland College students study nature in nature. We think of our location as our million-acre classroom.
- Northland College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (formerly North Central Association). Ten-year reaccreditation occurred February 2001.
