Beacon College was incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) institution for higher learning on May 24, 1989. The concept for theCollege was put forth by a group of parents concerned about higher education opportunities for students with learningdisabilities. Responding to this concern, the initial trustees founded Beacon College. The College embraces the student withlearning disabilities by providing educational opportunities that acknowledge individual learning differences.

Beacon students enjoy apartment style livingaccommodations, ample student parking, and are within walking distance of downtown shops, banking, and restaurants. A varietyof shopping plazas, a shopping mall, and a 12-cinema movie theatre are located within a short drive from campus.
